One of the most prominent monuments in Weiden am See is the granary, a restored storage space with arches on the ground floor dating from the 19th century. Another attraction is the "chair market". Along the high street, local farmers sell wickerwork as well as fruit and vegetables of the season. In Weiden am See, there is a perfect harmony between rural village life and modern tourism.
For 30 years, Weiden am See has maintained close and friendly ties with its sister village of Weiden in der Oberpfalz in Bavaria. Every year, delegations meet each other at the local fete and at Martini, in order to strengthen the partnership. In addition, there are many personal friendships between members of both communities.
The event calendar is put together by numerous associations together with the tourism association. Village life is much enhanced by the presence of many local societies. They unselfishly and enthusiastically organise the various events that Weiden am See offers year in and year out.
