The predominant wind is from the north-west. Optimal for speeding around and great for manoeuvres and tricks. The locals and pros show off exactly what can be done on a windsurf board - a spectacle that attracts many onlookers and photographers. When the wind comes from the south, Weiden also has its own allure. Waves build up along the length of the lake and break in the bay of Weiden - providing perfect ramps for jumping.
The shallow water is great for learning to windsurf - one has a huge area in which to stand and move safely. When the wind blows from the south one has to swim though - huge masses of water are pushed in the direction of Neusiedl and Weiden and raise the water level.
